Roadhouse USA:
Vintage 1980 USA Dean Cadillac Guitar in Black W/Coffin Case.
This one has a bit of a story to it:
First off, it has been refinished. When I got it it was a bit hammered, so I decide to have the original ebony finish redone, as the guitar was already non-original.
This guitar was owned by one family since the 1980’s where it was purchased in Califonia. Apparently it was owned by some of the he Bay area bands of the day and supposedly it was Dave Meniketti’s of Y&T for a time. Obviously I have nothing to substantiate that and it really doesn’t matter, its just part of the back story:)
It had the following modifications done to it when I acquired it:
-Grover tuners
-Bone nut
-Dimarzio 59 PAF in the bridge and 36th anniversary PAF in the neck
CTS 500k pots with Paper in Oil Bumble Bee caps
-Switchcraft toggle switch and output jack
-EVO gold jumbo frets
The other fact to note is that when the guitar was refinished, the serial number actually came off. It was not stamped in as you might think it would have been, but simply painted on. The luthier who painted it simply reapplied the serial number as you see it now. You can check out the pics of the guitar prior to being refinished for verification purposes.
So there it is. Its a legit, old USA Dean Caddy that has been refinished and modded. Obviously the price reflects all of this and frankly, for a USA Dean from this era, its a steal as it sits.
It plays GREAT and it looks killer too.
Comes as pictured with a Coffin Style case that just fits the guitar perfectly.
