Designed by sculptor and master luthier Steve Klein and built by Robert Taylor, the AB series produced a limited number of basses from 1996 through 2003.
This bass is from 1998.
It is in excellent condition and does not look to have been played much, if at all. I took careful pics of the back of the guitar, I am not certain, but there may have been a seam repair at some point in its life. If so, it was extremely well done because the way it looks to me, it could just be the figuring of the walnut which is superb.
The solid walnut back and sides are simply stunning.
The guitar plays great, neck is excellent and it comes as pictured with a soft case which appears to be stock from Taylor, as it is the Taylor color scheme.
This is a rare opportunity to pick up a rare, collector’s piece from Taylor.
