Description
Roadhouse USA:
1980 Gibson SG R1 Artist Guitar Active Moog Electronics W/OHSC
Extremely rare GIbson, there were only 200 of these ever made.
This is example is in incredible condition for any guitar, let alone a nearly 45 year old one.
I hesitate to call anything of this age mint, but this is about as close as you are going to find.
No dents, no dings, I can’t find a scratch on it.
Comes as pictured with original chainsaw hard case, original warranty card, manual and various other EXTREMELY important pieces of paperwork and detritus:)
Superb example of a very rare piece of Gibson history.
Info/Specs:
Introduced in 1980, the SG R1 was a limited run of 200 units, distinguished by it’s active electronics designed by Bob Moog (first introduced on the RD model). This would be the first ever SG with active electronics, and also has a 1/4″ thicker body to accommodate the electronics. In 1981, it was renamed the SG Artist but was soon discontinued.
