Description

Roadhouse USA:

Early 1970 Gibson Les Paul Professional LP Walnut Guitar.

Very cool and somewhat rare, Gibson Professional guitar.

This one dates to late 1969/early 1970 via the pot date codes.

The example you are looking at is the 2nd edition of this model as is evident by the lack of 3-prong low impedance jack and the flat back.

It appears to be all original including the factory installed Gibson vibrato which was made for Gibson by Bigsby.

The guitar is in good to very good overall vintage condition. There are no issues, just some of the various marks and evidence of play wear that you would expect from a 50+ year old guitar. Some nicks and dings as you can see, but has had no major repairs or anything like that.

It plays great and the neck and frets are in excellent condition.

This LP was appraised by George Gruhn in 2011 and that certificate is included.

Comes as pictured with a non original Gibson hard case that fits it perfectly, as well as offers quite a bit more protection than the original cases did.

Overall a very clean, all original 1970 Les Paul Professional with no issues.

Overview

The Les Paul Professional was introduced along with the fancier Les Paul Personal as an updated Les Paul concept in 1969. Gibson did not produce the Les Paul body shape between late 1960 and 1968, so both guitars were part of the first wave of new Les Paul models along with the Les Paul Deluxe and updated Les Paul Custom. These Les Pauls were distinguished by two oblong plastic-covered pickups, a more rounded cutaway horn, and an array of new electronics including a phase control and an XLR output jack.
