Roadhouse USA:
Don Grosh Retro Classic H/S/H Metallic Red-Very Early Model Serial #108.
This is a VERY early serial number, the lowest I have ever had at 108.
I have had it for years as I am a huge fan of Don Grosh guitars. Tom Andersons and Grosh’s are all I play personally:)
This one, as you can plainly see, has been naturally relic’d over the years and it was that way when I got it. I couldn’t resist the charm of a Grosh Retro Classic, relic’d or not.
The Metallic Red color is original and shows a lot of wear and checking.
The pickups sound great, I have no idea what they are. If I had to guess I would say it is likely they are Fralins and probably a DiMarzio single coil in the middle, which is what Grosh used a lot of back in the early days. Lindy Franlin humbuckers and DiMarzio Virtual Vintage were the weapon of choice, especially before Grosh started making their own pickups.
The guitar plays great. The neck is incredible, as they are on every single Grosh guitar I have ever picked up. The frets show a small amount of wear but are in no needing of fretword at this time.
If you want a vintage feel from a strat guitar, this is as good as it gets. I have often said that Don Grosh guitars are what Fender Strats would like to be and this one illustrates that point perfect. It just has vibe for days, which is why I have kept it for years.
Not much more to be said. It is a vintage Grosh in beat up condition and plays great, sounds great, and let’s face it, looks just plain awesome when you compare it to a heavy relic Fender Custom Shop!
Comes with, speaking of, a Fender logo’d hard case that works fine but has one busted latch.
